Flora Holland opts for the Pop-Up Toilet Company 2Star public sanitary unit

Truck drivers can now make use of Pop-Up Toilet Company 2Star public toilets and showers on the car park of the Royal Flora Holland flower auctions in Aalsmeer and Naaldwijk. The reason for Flora Holland investing in quality sanitary facilities is that the drivers, who often come from abroad and stay overnight, otherwise tend to wander around the site in search of a spot to relieve themselves. Novie Bikkers, project manager: “Our site backs onto a residential area and we don’t want our neighbours to be troubled by our parking guests.”

Specific requirements.

After 20 years’ use, the existing sanitary facilities were ready for replacement. To begin with, a plan of requirements was defined. Bikkers: “Firstly, the units needed to be vandalism proof. There are 20,000 people on site here on a daily basis, and the facilities take quite a beating. If it can be broken, it will be. These sanitary units are made from stainless steel, which is simply unbreakable. There are also no loose components which can be removed.”

Equally important: the toilets must be easy to clean. “I won’t go into detail, but I can assure you that the users do just about anything you can imagine.
The floor is made from a smooth material, with a gully to the drain at the rear. Our employees can therefore clean the entire space simply using a water hose.”

Besides the practical and functional requirements, Flora Holland also had ideas about the exterior. “We wanted something colourful. Not like the dreary concrete units you sometimes see in Germany, for example. Ugliness attracts vandalism. If facilities look attractive, people are more likely to treat them with respect.”

Price and flexibility

The deciding factor in choosing Pop-Up Toilet Company from the two tendering parties, was the price. Bikkers: “The quote by Pop-Up Toilet Company was more than 30% cheaper. Moreover, the flexibility shown by Marco Schimmel was an important factor: rather than the standard delivery time of 8 – 10 weeks, Pop-Up Toilet Company was able to pull some strings and cut this by one and a half weeks. We needed that with a view to the duration of the project.”

Our own contractor and installation company carried out all the preparation work. “After all, they are familiar with the site and know how everything works. The Pop-Up Toilet Company team then installed and connected the unit.” It meets all our expectations: “We have a great sanitary unit, for a good price, and supplied quickly. There have been no malfunctions so far, and nothing has been broken. We are certainly satisfied.”
